Alexa country stats show how i influence my alexa rank

Alexa rank is one of the metric used by some companies like text-link-ads, chitika to measure the popularity of the site. If you want to participate in their programs you should have good alexa rank.

Recently they data of visitors coming from various countries, that is good in one way but in other way it is not the correct estimate of the visitors you receive from those countries.

I have a website with alexa rank around 60,000 and when i look at the visitor stats the majority are coming from India and France, which is not the case in reality. I have installed the alexa toolbar in my IE to increase my alexa rank and i will open the site quite a few times in a day to boost my site rankings. Currently I am staying in France.

Now look at the alexa stats it shows that 38% of my visitors are from India, 23% are from France, 13% are from US. The 23% visitros from France is actually me with my alexa toolbar. This site is india centric and i dont expect lot of visitors from France. If we look at the other graph Showing Google Analytics it shows that 42% visitors are from India, 29% are from US and france visitors constitutes for 1%.

I see the same thing hapenning. I’m sure that just my visits to my site with Alexa tool bar installed makes it seem like I get most of my visitors from China, when I know it’s probably just me visiting my site with the Alexa Tool Bar.

I must be the only person who visits my site that has the toolbar.

I have the same problem. I had an Alexa SEO plugin and of course reloaded my website hundreds of times before it went live.

It didn’t affect my Alexa rankings at all but months after the site went live it still showed 90% visitors from China. In reality I had 70% visitors from the USA and nearly no visitors from China.

I was refused by several advertisers because of it. I disabled my Alexa plugin some months ago but Alexa still shows 60% from China and 25% from the USA.
