First look at Indian video sharing networks
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email alerts. Thanks for visiting!
I came through some of the video sharing networks operating in India. I would really appreciate their efforts but most of the sites are youtube clones and they dont have much unique content to offer.
Most of these sites rely on songs, movie promos and stuff from other video sites. If they have to keep their share of visitors then they should focus on encouraging users to post by giving some incentives. Unique user generated content always attracts the visitors than the movie related stuff. Allowing people to embed videos in their blogs also helps in increasing the traffic. Some of these sites are allowing adult content, this will attract some visitors but that will not help you to sustain in the long run.
I have to raise a few points here:
How many Indians have the broadband connections to see the online videos.
How many of we have digital cam coders to generate video content and share with others.
Running a video sharing network is not an easy task in terms of operational costs. If they handful of visitors they need to pay hefty amounts for bandwidth providers and how do they monetize these sites in the long run is a big question to me.
List of sites operating in this domain:
Aapkavideo
Apnatube
Meravideo
Canara video
videodubba
konkantv

Alexa stats are useless for comparing with other sites.
I checked this site, design looks outdated and doesn’t feel like visiting second time. Its better if they could redesign it well.
If you want to download look at the source code you will find direct linking to files, this makes anyone to download the videos with out any effort.
