The first OLPC (one laptop per child) Projects XO-1 Laptops were distributed in a school in Villa Cardal, Uruguay. XO-1 laptops are previously known as $100 laptop.

OLPC is a U.S. based, non-profit organization created by faculty members of the MIT Media Lab to design, manufacture, and distribute the laptops. Unlike the normal computers these laptops will contain flash memory instead of a hard drive and will use Linux as their operating system.
