Babelgum a joost competitor

Published on May 14, 2007   Filed Under Video, Web 2.0

Ireland based Babelgum is a P2P internet TV like Joost. Babelgum also works on the same principle as Joost that is peer to peer sharing, currently in private beta this will launch on may 31st. With babelgum users can create channels and share those with friends.

To create a global, personal, open, free, TV-like new media: this is the driver at Babelgum.

We aim to offer to each one of you what is specific to your own interests, with video programming streamed over the Internet at near-TV resolution. Babelgum is a space to be built together and to be shared with others in the world with similar interests.

Babelgum is reportedly to offer free TV from AP, Reuters, the BBC, the music labels, and shorts from Spike Lee. According to The Next Net blog babelgum has 4000 beta testers and 15000 waiting for the beta and joost has already 500,000 users, that is quite alot in terms of the beta users. Defenitely Joost has an edge over babelgum in terms of number of users but babelgum may capture the European market with their presence in the Europe.
