Meebo launched a new product called meebo rooms. Meebo rooms are like chat rooms where you can chat with your friends, meebo users and of course your web site visitors. These meebo rooms can be placed on websites like other widgets.

Meebo rooms can be placed on your website or they will stay in meebo, meebo users can add you as buddy through a room address. Site visitors can also chat as guests. The killer feature in this release is ability to embed media content in the chat room. Just paste the url of your favorite videos from youtube, metacafe, your favorite news story from digg or a music track, meebo automatically recognizes this and starts playing that video or music on the chat room video player.

Meebo now introduced video ads in between the video content to show up.

Meebo had partnerships with content providers to show their content through meebo rooms, the partners include Blip.tv, Capitol Music Group’s Capitol Records and Virgin Records, CNET, CollegeHumor, Flixster, GameTrailers.com, Jive Records, NBC Universal, Pop Sugar, Popular Mechanics, RockYou, Veoh, Us Weekly’s Us TV, and finally VIBE Magazine.

Its nice to see meebo transforming from a web based IM to IM & content aggregator, i am a big fan of meebo, i use it daily in my office.
