Music social network Last.fm has been acquired by CBS corporation for $280 million. Last.fm was founded five years ago and has 15 million active user following. This is the leading online network in this space, other include Pandora, Mog and iLike.
As part of the deal Last.fm will remain independent with its management staying in place.
Last.fm keeps track of what music users listen to and then produces features personalized to the users tastes. Users connects to others who have similar interests. Last.fm widgets are available to place on your myspace or blog.
