Mobile Social Network from Coca-Cola

Published at June 8, 2007   Filed Under Web 2.0

coca colaThe Coca-Cola company is building a social network called “Sprite Yard” targeted to the cell phone world. Sprite Yard was introduced last week in China and will come to US this month.

Sprite Yard will attract teen mobile users and it will function only in cell phones for the time being. On Sprite Yard users can setup profiles, share photos and chat with friends using their mobile phones. Users can redeem codes from their sprite bottle caps for prizes like ring tones and short video clips called mobisodes.

Although its an interesting idea its difficult to attract a user base around a soft drink. It may also end up with high monthly cell phone bills.

  1. I still cant understand the similarity between Social network and Coke. :-(
  2. They just are just jumping to social network bandwagon, to promote their products. the idea is flawed, who will involve in social network around a drink
