Technorati today announced a new feature called ‘Topics‘. This section replaces the recently designed homepage of technorati.
Topics is a new feature showing a stream news style blog posts from authoritative blogs. Topics include Entertainment, Technology, Politics, Sports, Business, and Life. The topics pages gives 10 blog posts in a continuous stream, you can interrupt the scroll by mouse hover. According to technorati these stories are selected based on “Technorati Authority, frequency of posting, use of relevant tags, links to related subject matter and general topicality.”
Dorion Carroll of technorati says “Each topic features blog posts from many of the best blogs out there to help you discover what’s going on. The posts are refreshed frequently to reflect breaking news, new opinions, and the latest from the Web. We’ve set out to help you find some great blog posts to read and we’ve organized them by easy to browse topics.”
This might be beneficial to some blogs to drive more traffic. The scroll of the blog posts is so fast that you don’t get it right. Its good that technorati is focusing again on blogs.
I have been fascinated at how “authority” has taken over the blogosphere and web in general.
