Microsoft released a new technology framework called Microsoft Sync Framework which will allow developers to create offline web applications and services. According to Microsoft download site “This framework also provides optimized P2P sync of any type of file including contacts, music, videos, images and settings. It includes support for synchronizing databases, NTFS/FAT file systems, simple sharing extensions for RSS/Atom, devices and applications.”
This may be a competitor to Google Gears a browser extension for adding offline functionality to web applications launched by Google sometime back.
