Win prizes for using Microsoft Live Search.

Published at November 9, 2007   Filed Under Microsoft

Microsoft is trying to lure users to use its Live Search Engine by throwing some prizes.

Reportedly Microsoft sent out emails to users to participate in “Live Search Trial Program.” The program rewards users with tickets every time they use Live Search, and these tickets can be redeemed for prizes later on. The prizes include everything from t-shirts to video games and the promo will extend through February of next year, according to Ars Technica

This strategy may help to get some users initially but in the long run it doesn’t work unless they do some tweaking to their search engine.

Live Search is a Joke, you don’t beleive me? just look at the below screenshots you will know what i mean.

  1. Sounds like a nice promotion but not enough to get me to switch from using Google to Live Search. Does anyone actually use Live Search on a regular basis?
  2. lol , Live search is a joke.
  3. live search is not even a search engine :)

i don’t think someone will use Live becoz of this promotion, if they use also they won’ be a longterm user
  5. Please put me on your e-mail list!!! :>
  6. The Search results for Live Search in the picture might not be correct, but they do actually match with what you enterd.

Mike Arrington on Live Search came up with stuff to do with Mike Arrington.

On Google, it might be what YOUR looking for, but it came up with a completely different website

but this approach might not give the best results, now try the same search, the first result is “ismikearringtonadick”, is that is the most relevant result live search found, this is even a bigger joke.

the first result in the picture at the time of search doesn’t have any content, again that is not what i wanted.

“On Google, it might be what YOUR looking for, but it came up with a completely different website”
exactly it is a different website but that is what 99% of the people expect from search results.

Google can tell you exactly what you are searching for and Live will just point our similar results which in most cases are just useless.
