YouTube recently introduced higher resolution videos and with that comes a little benefit for users. As Google Operating System points out it is now possible to download YouTube videos directly as MP4 files meaning there is no need to use tools to convert videos for your iPod or iPhone. Earlier we are able to download Youtube videos as FLV files using DownloadHelper or some other tools.
There is a work around to download videos as MP4 files, the easiest way is to drag the below bookmarklet to your browser bookmarks bar, if you use IE right click and save to favorites.
Now if you want to download any video just click on the bookmarklet when you are on youtube video page, you will see a small link “Download as MP4″ below video information. Right click on that link and save target as “videoname.mp4″. If you find all this confusing there is Greasemonkey script that ease the process.
