TweetDeck Facebook Integration, Memory Leak Fix

The popular twitter desktop app, TweetDeck updated today with Facebook integration, some other fixes and features. Yesterday Seesmic Desktop, successor to the another twitter client Twhirl is released which competes with TweetDeck. For those who doesn’t know what is tweetdeck is a multi column populat twitter desktop client developed on Adobe AIR platform (see Useful Adobe AIR Applications).

There is a big complaint from TweetDeck users on its memory management, this release will address this issue according to the tweetdeck blog, but i can see in my system that still is using a lot of memory.

Other major feature is the Facebook integration. Now you can update your Facebook status from TweetDeck and receive friends Facebook updates via TweetDeck.

Other features include twitpic previews, now you can preview twitpic images in the app itself. Now you can record videos inside tweetdeck for posting it to 12seconds. One more important feature is that now you can see where those short URLs are leading you before opening it in browser, you change the option in settings and from then onwards whenever you click a short URL it will display the originating URL in the app, you can decide to follow or not after seeing it.

TweetDeck is getting better and better and that’s why it has become the most popular twitter client. One missing feature currently is multiple accounts support, i hope future versions of this app will have this feature, otherwise we now have Seesmic Desktop as an option. Skimmer is another desktop client which supports twitter, facebook and other life streaming apps.
