BitBlinder is an open source project aimed at offering anonymous bittorrents and browsing to get around filters. With increasing policing and Governments considering internet cut off for users downloading music or movies over P2P networks, anonymous bittorrenting is good solution to get around these draconian rules.

BitBlinder is a open source project claims to make anonymous bittorrent for the users. It is a bittorrent client with a browser included for browsing anonymously. The browser is based on Firefox and the client is base on Bittornado.

BitBlinder works like a private torrent tracker,  if you ever used popular private torrent trackers like Demonoid you know that you have to maintain an upload and download ratio near to 1, otherwise you will be kicked out. BitBlinder works similarly in order to use anonymously X GB of data you need to provide  X GB of data to others. Users who are just joined will get a bonus of 2GB of data to start with. You can also buy credits if you don’t care about the ration and just want to use the service. Although it is not clear how BirBlinder will anonymize the usage and also tracks how much you are using.

Your request is passed through several peers with encryption in the network before reaching the target. That way each peer only knows the next peer in the network but not the requester/sender of the request.

There are other ways to access torrents and browse anonymously like TOR, but TOR is slow and painful at times. Mute is another program for accessing torrents anonymously.

Bitblinder is in beta, you can request register here for downloading the program. BitBlinder is a cross platform program, currently available for Windows, Mac support will come soon.
