Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview will start from today Microsoft announced. The biggest announcement is that Office 2010 comes with web based light weight versions of the popular office applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote. These web based versions will be made available as free for everyone.

Microsoft Office 2010 test build had been leaked to the torrents in May, the build that is going to be released to the testers is also leaked to the torrents. The build that was leaked earlier is 14.0.4006.1010 and the recent build that is leaked is 14.0.4302.1000.
Microsoft Office Web Applications
Don’t get excited yet, these web applications are not yet available for users, they will be made available at a later date.
Microsoft finally has an answer to Google Docs and Zoho docs, the web applications will be available for free like others. Don’t expect full capabilities of Office apps on the web, but they are nice alternatives to Google Docs and others.
Desktop Applications
Office apps got some improvements and new features.
Collaborate better with co-authoring in Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and Microsoft OneNote 2010, and advanced e-mail management and calendaring capabilities in Microsoft Outlook 2010, including the option for users to ”ignore” unwanted threads.
Bring ideas to life with video and picture editing, broadcast capability in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, easy document preparation through the new Microsoft Office Backstage view, and new Sparklines in Microsoft Excel 2010 to visualize data and spot trends more quickly.
