Microsoft to turn on Flash to run by default in Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 and Windows RT versions. With an update scheduled for today for IE10 as part of Windows update will turn on Flash content in both Win 8/ RT devices.
The desktop version of IE10 offers flash content by default and continues to show, but the Metro versions earlier blocked flash content from site. Microsoft says through vast testing over the months majority of sites work are now compatible with the Win 8 versions and are optimized for touch, performance and battery life. So they are enabling flash to run by default on IE10. Microsoft continues to block small number of sites that are not compatible with a black list (Compatibility View list).

Microsoft’s sudden U turn on allowing Flash in IE10 refers to the fact that majority of sites work properly and only a small number of sites are not compatible. It could also be possible that some of the users favorite sites are blocked by the earlier approach and users are not happy about that, it also limits the appeal of IE10 to users who might want to migrate to other browsers. Migrating to other browsers is not possible in Windows RT though.
