Published on June 29, 2007   Filed Under Web 2.0   8 Comments

flivaFliva widget is a fun way of telling about yourself to your audience. Fliva is a flash widget that can be embedded to any blog or social networking site.

It is a kind of poll widget where you fill questions and answers and add your favorites. The design is flash based and its simple, just login with your id ans answer some pre-loaded questions, add your favorites and select publish, you will be given a embed code to post on your site.

The widget is impressive, colors of the widget can be customized with a slider. Your visitors can vote on the Q&A you posted on the widget.

Currently Fliva doesn’t have the option to allow users to add their own questions, if they can add this feature it would be good. Users can add their own favorites. See the widget in action below this post.

MySpace TV Looks Like A YouTube Clone

Published on June 28, 2007   Filed Under Video   4 Comments

MySpace Launched its video sharing network MySpace TV. It appears to me that they have copied most of the features from Youtube. It would have been better if they design the site with a unique look and feel.

Mashable did a nice comparison of the two sites and came with 12 similarities. The most prominent things you will notice on your first visit are

  • Tabs are identical only difference Home tab on the left and a MyVideos tab on the right.
  • Upload Video button position and styling.
  • Subscribe button same place
  • Director videos column in Youtube becomes featured videos in Myspace TV.

Right now, there are four basic things you can send: messages, links, files, and events.

You might send an event out to a dozen of your friends letting them know you’re hosting a party this Friday. They could easily get the event details you entered, respond with questions or comments and then quickly rsvp.

The new version adds a text link “Image Version” on the home page when you click this link you will see News Images as square thumbs. Mouse hover any news image its related story will be pulled to top on the right side of the screen.

Its a nice feature but some of the images are not completely related to the story.

Published on June 25, 2007   Filed Under Web 2.0   5 Comments

spotplexSpotplex is a news ranking site like [tag]Digg[/tag], but it is different from Digg. The site is in beta for quite some time and launched public today.

.. you can find what is the hot news today, this week, or this month in real time at Spotplex. This is not a list of articles people recommended or voted for, but a list of articles read most in a given timeframe.

Spotplex ranks the stories like Digg, but unlike digg stories are not submitted and rated by the community, rather stories are promoted to the front page based on the number of page views they receive. This is a good feature and users can not gamble the site to get the stories to front page.
