Meebo, the most popular web based IM service is powering the channel chats in Joost. This is different from th Instant Messaging chat in Joost, with IM chat you can connect to Gtalk/Jabber based services. With Meebo you can connect with other users watching the same channel and interact with them.

Microsoft Research unveiled a new product called Livestation which streams live TV over PC. This is slightly different than Joost, it only streams live TV.

Microsoft announced today the availability of Microsoft Mediaroom, the IPTV platform. Microsoft IPTV is renamed as Mediaroom and added functionality.
Microsoft Mediaroom features several new capabilities including in-home personal music and photo sharing, dynamic multiple picture in picture capabilities and digital terrestrial television support.
