Technorati inviting bloggers to write content for them

Technorati, the blog search engine that everyone forgot is refocusing on creating original content to stay in the business. Once a popular search engine for blogs, Technorati shifted from blogs to social media in general once and went back to blogs later. Now it is preparing to focus itself as an original content network. Technorati also launched an ad network sometime back, but from the looks of it and the quality of ads showing on blogs it is clear that it is not getting any traction so far.

Technorati’s blog rank is a popular tool for seeing authority of blogs but now that blog ranking became a joke. Now it is inviting bloggers to write content for them. According to TheNextWeb, Technorati is sending invitations to bloggers to become a Technorati writer.

Technorati is entering into the next phase of our evolution: original content.
Beginning in October, Technorati will feature original content on the site written by bloggers just like you! This is an amazing opportunity to give your writing vast exposure, become known as an expert in your field/s of interest, and to join a vibrant writer community.

It is not clear what Technorati is planning exactly, looks like they are trying to build something like Mahalo.com, Knol (do you remember that Google thingy). Anyway if you are interested in writing for Technorati head over to that contact page and apply now.

Increase Feedburner Subscriber Count Overnight

We have seen blogs faking feedburner subscriber count by displaying someone else feed button, now thenextweb shows a way to increase subscriber count overnight to whatever number you want, think of thousands.

It is easy to hack the feedburner count. All you need is a netvibes account to boost subscriber count.

This may be a bug in Netvibes counting of the subscriber numbers, or may be a feedburner. Hopefully it will be fixed soon either by Google or netvibes, don’t fake your subscriber count in the mean time. Via Webware

Display Your Blog Posts on Major Media sites like Reuters, USA Today

I never thought that it is possible to display our blog posts on major media sites like Reuters until i saw this post on QOT. IIt is possible to put your blog posts on big media sites with blog syndication service BlogBurst.

I registered at blogburst with my blog after reading QOT post, they sent me the confirmation after a week or so and it took few more days to activate my blog. After that i forgot about it because i never expected that it will happen. But today i saw my posts displaying in Reuters (Google lively post), Eweek (this post), and in some other places (this post), i am excited.

If you want to put your own blog posts on mainstream media sites join blogburst now. Blogburst puts blog posts on site like Reuters, USA Today, Garnett, eweek, FoxNews etc.

Although it feels great to see your blog posts on major news sites, don’t expect any traffic from them. The posts are displayed in full text and the clickthrough rates back to blog are very poor. But it is good to display your articles on sites like these for branding.

Tumblweed: Adobe AIR App for Tumblr

Tumblweed is a desktop client for Tumblr built on Adobe Air and Flash. It has some cool features and could be very useful in future as this is an alpha version. For those of you who doesn’t know tumblr, it is a microblogging service using which you can share links, photos, videos, text etc.

You can create all types of tumblr posts from your desktop with this app. It includes a mini dashboard to see your posts, allows drag and drop photo uploads. It shows convenient progress bars for audio and video uploading.

The upcoming features are support for webcam posts and Scribble posts that would let you draw something and then post it.

If you have a tumble blog, try tumbleweed. I do have a tumblog but not updating frequently, but i am planning to update it regularly now.

Yahoo Pipes Widgets For Your Blog

Yahoo Pipes is the ultimate mashup tool if you just want to mash few RSS feeds or you want to create some useful mashup with RSS meta data. Yahoo pipes today introduced Yahoo Pipes Badges, widgets of Pipes output.

You can share these badges or widgets on your blog or iGoogle home page or anywhere you want with the embed tags. Currently it supports Typepad, Blogger, WordPress, iGoogle, for others use the javascript embed code.

It doesn’t offer any customization at the moment except ability to change the height and width of the gadget.

This is a pretty smart move from Six Apart, small and medium bloggers need a good advertising support from vertical ad networks. I am not sure whether they will allow any one to enroll to their ad network, if they do that that would be good. What do you think?

BayWords: Pirate Bay Launches Free Blog Service

Pirate Bay is offering a new service called BayWords for users, where any one can start a blog with out worrying about copyrights and stuff like that.

Why BayWords?, Accroding to torrentfreak the idea came when one of Pirate Bay founders friend blog was taken down at wordpress.com. Baywords appears to be using WordPress mu, the blogging engine which powers wordpress.com blogs.

PirateBay promises that they won’t take down your blogs as long as you don’t break any swedish law. Baywords is free to use but they will throw some ads here and there to cover thier expenses of course which is reasonable.

Technology Bites Is One Year Old

Technology Bites turned one year old on yesterday, that is March 7th 2008. I completely forgot it, I realized this when i read Madhur’s post. I started this blog to share my thoughts on Web 2.0 and technology. So far it is going good, thanks to all you wonderful readers.

It was quite an interesting experience, i made lot of friends and learned a lot from them. I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone from regular readers to RSS readers who made this possible. Hopefully i will celebrate many more blog birthdays with all your support in the coming years.
