Technorati, the blog search engine has acquired PersonalBee a news discovery engine. PersonalBee allows users which they call beekepers to make public or private pages on their news topics of interest. The news pages or personal beehives look like digg pages, where other members can vote on the stories.

Yahoo released a new search engine named alpha, the concept is based on federated search. The results are displayed using OpensearchRSS technology. Users can customize the pages by adding their favorite sources, currently it shows the results for Flickr Photos, Youtube, Yahoo Answers, Yahoo7 News Search and Wikipedia.
