Sliding Messaging – A New and Unique Messaging App for Android

The Stock SMS app in Android has been around for a long time and with slight changes in the interface in Jelly Bean, it is still somewhat like the old messaging app. Other manufacturers have their own messaging apps such as the HTC SMS app. However, there aren’t many changes and the messaging apps on most Android devices don’t have many features. Alternatives such as Handcent are available but not many Android users like the interface and heavy usage of these apps. Sliding Messaging is a new messaging app for Android which is based on Android’s stock messaging app. Not only is it great in terms of user interface, but it also brings several new features.

Sliding Messaging is probably one of the apps Android users wanted to see because it doesn’t take up much RAM and improves the features of the stock SMS app. Basically, the app lets you manage your messages in a new and unique way. It supports gestures or sliding in order to switch between messages. In order to switch to another conversation, you just need to slide your finger from the left and the menu will show you all the conversations to switch to. It’s as simple as that.

Apart from basic conversation switching, you can also start a new message by sliding your finger from the right. This app brings a new sliding feature into the stock messaging app on Android for better functionality. Swiping and using gestures is getting quite popular on Android and from keyboards to launchers, a lot of developers are trying to support gestures. Sliding Messaging also lets you organize your old messages with one single tap.

On the Galaxy Note 2, the app also supports multiple windows and for Jelly Bean users, popup notifications are also available. You can download the app using this link. Sliding Messaging doesn’t support MMS at the moment but this will soon be implemented in a future update.
