Samsung’s JK Shin: Windows Phones are not selling well

When it comes to smartphones Android and iPhone are ruling the roost, Microsoft is trying hard to catch-up with the market with Windows Phone 8, but all is not well in the Windows Phone land. Though Nokia seems to be doing ok with it’s Lumia series, other partners of Microsoft are not in a good position with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8. Samsung’s new co-CEO J.K. Shin told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that Windows Phones are not selling well, this is not a good news for Microsoft.

He made the remarks in an interview with WSJ after unveiling Samsung Galaxy S4, the next generation of Galaxy smartphone from Samsung. Although Galaxy S4 packs impressive hardware to compete with the likes of Sony Xperia Z and LG Optimus G Pro, but it really shines in the Software part with new features. When asked about their relationship with Microsoft, he replied saying “Smartphones and tablets based on Microsoft’s Windows operating system aren’t selling very well., “In Europe, we’re also seeing lackluster demand for Windows-based products.”

He also said that there is a preference in the market for Android. They will continue their good relationship with Android and they like the Android. Samsung is betting on several operating systems not only Android but it’s success came mostly from Android. It released low-end smartphones with Bada OS, which doesn’t much of the market share. It released Samsung Ativ tablet and Samsung Ativ S smartphone based on Windows 8, the remarks came from the numbers of this phone.
