Google Keep note-taking app appears briefly online before taken down

While we are all focusing on the Google reader shut down issue as part of the Google’s spring cleaning, Google briefly showed a new service called Keep. Google Keep is a note-taking app, it will allow you to take notes, add color codes and add pictures. Android Police briefly played with the app and managed to take few screenshots along.

Google earlier has a note taking app in the name of Google Notebook, but that was shut down in 2009. Google Keep might be a replacement to that and it might be working on it for quite some time now, competing with the ones like Evernote, but is far from Evernote feature set. There is a screenshot that was posted to Google+ in 2012 that shows a link to “Add to Google Keep” hinting that an integration with search as well.

This was first uncovered by Google+ user IE100 and Android Police followed it up. Keep was online for some time and accessed at http://drive.google.com/keep/ but later it was removed, the URL pattern suggests that it will be part of Google Drive, also there is a shortcut link (g.co/keep) to the Google play store app suggesting mobile apps for the service.

As of now this is just another service from Google that may or may not see the light.
