Sony has announced a new smartphone in the Xperia Z series, after Xperia Z and ZR, the new phone is names Xperia Z Ultra. Earlier we have seen phones with 5-inches and we thought those are gigantic, but this one takes it further and added a 6.4-inch screen blurring the line between tablet and a phone.
Xperia Z Ultra is a water and dust resistant phone (IP55/ IP58) and comes in a ultra lightweight design, it is competing with the recently launched Huawei Ascend P6 to be the slimmest smartphone around at 6.5mm thickness. It packs the latest hardware in a thin package. It features a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad Core processor with 4G LTE technology.
That gigantic screen for a mobile is full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and comes with Sony’s TRILUMINOS display technology for representing richer colors along with X-Reality for mobile. Sony says the large FHD screen display has been optimized to offer 60% of more screen that most other smartphones. To provide juice for this super phone Sony has included 3000 mAh of battery, hopefully that is sufficient for this phone.
It also comes loaded with other Sony goodies like Walkman, Sony’s ClearAudio+ mode and Xloud enhancements, Battery Stamina mode among other things.
Xperia Z Ultra will incorporate the handwritten recognition technology and will support any stylus or pen. Users can use a stylus or a metal pen and write notes or sketches on the screen, it allows you to write while on call also making it business friendly. It is running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Availability & Price: It will be available around the world starting Q3 2013. The pricing of the device is not yet announced, but Xperia Z pricing might give you an idea.
