Diggbar, the recently launched framebar and URL shortner got alot of criticism for the way it frames the content and redirects the URLs. Digg has listened to the feedback and now offers changes to the Diggbar.
The changes will roll out from next week or so, with the new implementation of the Diggbar users who are logged in to Digg will only see the Diggbar. Users who are not logged in to Digg and other who are clicking from sites like twitter (again not logged in to digg) will never see diggbar. The short URLs will redirect to the original articles with a 301 permanent redirect. For logged in users the articles will load in the digg frame bar with 200 status code.
Digg users who don’t want to see the diggbar can turn it off from the profile settings at Digg. Some bloggers implemented framebursting scripts to kill the diggbar altogether, they can continue to use or remove it once these changes take effect.
