Amazon launches Prime Video service in India

Amazon India has launched its Prime video service in India, the service allow streaming of movies, TV shows and other content. Amazon Prime is a subscription service which offers faster deliveries and discounts for shipping fees, Amazon India has launched this service in July this tear in India. The Prime video service is the latest addition to the Prime subscribers, users don’t have to pay anything for the video streaming service as of now, it is being offered as part of he Prime subscription. In US it is not free, Amazon charges $99 for the same, compared to that it is very cheap in India as the prime subscription only costs ?499/ year.

The content on the platform includes Indian movies, TV shows, movies from around the world and Amazon Originals. According to this report from TOI Amazon has set a budget close to ?2000 crore for content in India and has made several deals with the content creators here. The Indian content reportedly includes bollywood movies, original web series an kids shows.

Amazon Prime will give tough competition to its Prime video rivals like Netflix and Hotstar. Amazon Prime is priced at ?499/year as promotional price which is expected to go up for ?999/year. Netflix charges ?500 to ?800/month and Hotstar charges ?199/month, compared to these Amazon Prime is quite cheap and more importantly it includes local content which Netflix lacks. Amazon Prime includes movies from other languages like Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Bengali.
