Google releases Social Gadgets for iGoogle

igoogleGoogle just launched 19 social gadgets for its start page iGoogle. The gadgets are mainly to collaborate with friends to complete tasks and of course waste time by playing games with each other.

These social gadgets are first rolled out in Australia and now in US, others also can use these as I am able to use, some of the gadgets like Scrabble which has different rights holders in different regions won’t work outside US. These gadgets bring both fun games, a to-do list manager for getting things done, videos, photos and content from sources like The Huffington Post.

If you and your friends use same social gadgets you can keep track of what they are up to, and the updates stream offers your friends updates even you are not using the same gadgets. Users can also post status updates like Facebook.

Updates can include your recently shared photo albums, your favorite comics strips, your travel plans for the weekend and more. To help you manage who you are sharing with, we’ve created a Friends group. You can add and edit friends in this group at any time. If you already have a Friends group within your Google Contacts, you’ll be able to easily share with those friends on iGoogle as well. If you don’t care to share, iGoogle’s social features are optional and can be disabled on a gadget-to-gadget basis with just a few clicks. [via Google Blog]

If you are iGoogle user check the new gadgets, they are not as useful for many but hey at least you can kill some time with your friends by playing chess or scrabble.
