Here are four cool alternatives to search for images on flickr, giving you an extra edge and helping you find much relevant images based on your search terms.
Comfight is a flickr search tool with an elegant interface. It enables you to search for images on flickr by ‘text’ and ‘tags’. You can switch between tags and text. If your ‘tags’ results are not appealing, you can use refine tags or use the “text” option to search through the titles and descriptions of images. It provides you with an option to turn ‘Creative Commons’ On/Off.
You can restrict your search to the Creative Commons “Only”, and use the “Commercial” setting for commercially usable imagess. Turning Creative Commons “Off” will return every image available, including those in the Creative Commons. Other options available include seek original (show/hide image dimensions) and safe search.
Picishare
Picishare is a great alternative to the standard flickr search. It enables you to search for images on flickr by ‘full text’ or tags. And, you can limit the number of results from 20 to 100 and sort the photos based on the date, interestingness and relevance. There is also an option available to browse images by popular tags directly.
It’s homepage displays the most interesting pictures of the day. LiteFlick is a flickr search tool with a pleasing user interface. It enables users to search for images on flickr based on ‘text’ and flickr ‘username’. When you search for images, it displays the related tags and most popular tags apart from the search results. You can view the results as a slideshow.
Each image is displayed along with its description and a ‘more info’ link, which displays the tags of that specific image and the photo sets to which it belongs to. It also provides with the pools to which a photo belongs to and other sets from the user.
Flickr Related Tag Browser lets you browse through flickr’s ‘tag space’. It uses flickr tags as keywords to classify images. Each tag has a list of ‘related’ tags, based on clustered usage analysis. To get started, just enter few search tags, separated by commas and experience the magic. It displays the search results at the center of the page, with the related tags surrounding the results as a circle.
Once you click on an image result, it is displayed adjacent to the image results, giving you a book-like user interface.
