Accelerate your Web Browsing Experience with FasterFox

FastestFox is a Firefox Add-on which enables you to surf the web faster and thereby save time by speeding up common tasks. It provides you with faster, parallelized downloads and customizable shortcuts to quickly open your favorite websites on the fly!

Following is a walk through of some of its prolific features,

Wikipedia Sidebar

When you search for articles on Wikipedia, it adds a “related articles” sidebar to the left side of Wikipedia page. You can always enable/disable this features in the settings.

Pop-up Bubble

smarterfox-popup-bubbleA pop-up bubble appears when you highlight some text on a webpage. Clicking on the pop-up will lead you to a Wikipedia article related to the highlighted/selected text.  If there is no article existing based on the selected text, then you have the option to make a Google search for those term(s). You also have the option to use the right-click context menu.

Enhanced Awesomebar

This Firefox Add-on extends the Awesomebar in Mozilla Firefox so that Google search results automatically appear as you type. This saves time, as you can select and go to the web page you are looking for directly from the URL bar / Awesomebar without having to search on Google.

qLauncher

qLauncher allows you to quick open your favorite websites with customizable shortcuts. This start the qLauncher just press “Ctrl+Space”. This set of keys can be changed by going to Tools -> SmarterFox in Mozilla Firefox. The bookmarks will be stored in a folder called ‘qlauncher’ on your bookmarks menu. In order to add a new bookmark, you can do it directly on the qluancher or by copying it into the qlauncher bookmarks folder.

Another interesting thing on FastestFox is that it automatically loads further pages of a website. For instance, when you query Google for a term and scroll through the search results, it automatically loads the search results on page2 so that you don’t have to click on ‘2’ or ‘next’ to go through search results on the next page. This feature is very helpful while going through lengthy articles or for quickly scanning lot of web pages.
