Box is Giving 50GB of Free Storage for Life to Android App Users

Online storage space provider Box is giving away 50GB of free storage for life to users who login or sign up to Box through Box Android app. Box has released an updated Android app with new features and added compatibility to Ice Cream Sandwich. Along with these changes Box announced the 50GB for life free storage offer.

The 50GB promotion is valid until March 23rd 2012, so if you want to get that free 50GB act fast and download the Android app. Once downloaded you can login or register from the app itself.

New features include Invite people to your folders right from the app to collaborate on a folder, if there are any changes to files they get updates. You can now view and comment on files right from the app. Now it is possible to upload multiple files and monitor the progress. Upload limit has also been raised, now you can upload files that are up to 100MB in size. To make international users happy they added new language to Box for Android, now it is available in French Italian, German and Spanish.

Along with the this offer Box is also giving away 20 Samsung Galaxy Tabs to a company.

we’re launching a contest to give you and your team a chance to win 20 Samsung Galaxy Tabs and a year of Box Enterprise. All you have to do is tell us (in 200 words or less) why using Samsung Galaxy Tabs and Box will move your business forward.

Box is one of the biggest players in the cloud storage industry, by offering free storage to Android users it plans to acquire new users. With stiff competition from other players in the industry like SkyDrive, Dropbox, SugarSync etc it is not surprising to see these kind of marketing strategies. Dropbox recently offered 5GB of free storage to beta testers.

With the tight integration of SkyDive to Windows 8, and possible launch of Google Drive in the near future it will be interesting to see how these cloud storage providers will compete with each other.
