HTC announces Windows Phone 8X and 8S

HTC has announced two Windows phones today at an event namely Windows Phone 8x and Windows Phone S. HTC WP 8X is a flagship high end device and the other, 8S is a mid range device. HTC is following the same strategy it followed while launching one series Android phones.

HTC had Windows Phones previously in it’s portfolio but recently it is betting big on Android, but that strategy is not working in a big way for HTC. So it makes sense for HTC to diversify it’s portfolio to include Windows devices as the launch of Windows Phone 8 is around the corner.

HTC 8X features a 4.3 inch Super LCD2 Screen with HD resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. There is no external storage support though. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and LTE support for selected markets. It packs a 8 megapixel camera at the rear and 2.1 megapixel camera at the front and an integrated 1800mAh Li-ion battery.

HTC 8S is an affordable mid range device with 4 inch Super LCD display with Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core S4 processor and 512MB RAM. 4GB of internal storage and an microSD slot for expansion. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi-Bluetooth, 3G but now word on LTE support. Other specifications include a 5megapixel rear camera, there is no front camera on this device, 1700mAh battery.

Both these phones will be available starting in November this year. “The Windows Phone 8X or 8S by HTC will be available from the world’s top carriers including: United States: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. Europe: Orange, O2 Telefonica, MTS, Three UK, T-Mobile, and Vodafone Asia-Pacific: Chunghwa Telecom, Optus, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel), Smartone, Telstra and Vodafone Australia.”
