Apple working on Larger and Curved Screen iPhones for 2014

Apple is reportedly developing iPhones with larger displays and curved screens, these phones are expected in the second half of 2014. We heard rumors earlier also suggesting that Apple is developing iPhones with bigger screens as large as 6-inches, those rumors suggested that Apple is settling for a 4.8-inch screen phone due for next year.

According to a report on Bloomberg Apple is developing iPhones with bigger displays with curved glass citing anonymous source. The report also says that Apple is also working on pressure sensitive sensors which can detect the touch input of the user, iPhone touch screen might respond to the light tap, medium pressure and high pressure input.

The curved display phones are becoming reality and we have already seen Samsung and LG release their curved display phones recently, so it is only matter of time before others follow suit. Samsung has released Galaxy Round smartphone last month and LG announced G Flex curved display smartphone last month. Both these phones differ in the way their display are curved. According to the Bloomberg report Apple curved glass is curved downward at its edges.

Apple is readying 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones for next year with curved display. 5.5-inch iPhone is closer to the Galaxy Note 3 which has 5.7-inch screen. The release schedule for these new iPhones is set for the second half of the next year, that is typical for Apple’s announcements.

Apple is still developing the pressure sensitive technology and is not ready to release along with the next iPhone, so this technology might come with iPhone that is slated for later release. If the report has to be believed then we will have two iPhones slated for released in September 2014 with bigger displays and probably with curved glass. These iPhones become the biggest display iPhones ever made. The current flagship iPhones 5S is a four-inch device.
