BBM for Android and iPhone updates, adds support for iPod and iPad

BlackBerry Messenger or BBM for Android and iPhone got an update today, it includes new features, bug fixes and improvements as usual. The latest update brings support for Wi-Fi only iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6 and iOS 7. Earlier BBM worked on iPad but only on 3G/ 4G enabled iPad and not on Wi-Fi version.

BBM has also introduced new features for social sharing that will help it to expand its reach to new users. You can see the changelog for Android and iOS at the end of the post. BBM Update adds support for sharing PIN easer, now users can share their PIN via their social networks. This is not an ideal way to share your BBMs but so far users are doing it as we have seen PINs across Facebook and other social networks.

BBM released for Android and iPhone in October after a botched release in September. BBM got around 10million users in the first 24 hours, after that things have been quite for BlackBerry, according to reports it currently has 20 million users on both Android and iPhone.

  • Find your friends on other social networks who are also using BBM
  • Fixes an issue where some users would be missing BBM contact names
