ButtonLED – Use Hardware Button Backlight for Notifications

Led notifications is a popular features on smartphones these days and most Android smartphones come with Led lights. These lights, basically, start blinking when you receive a message or a call. Also, these lights show notifications from 3rd party apps such as Facebook and Twitter. Not all Android devices come with these notifications lights and there are certain phones which don’t on which the led lights don’t look that good. Whatever it is, if you don’t have or like the led lights on your phone, you can use an alternative way to get notifications.  ButtonLed is a new app for Android which uses the backlight of the touch sensitive buttons on Android in order to show notifications. The app is similar to noLED but instead of using the screen, it uses hardware buttons on the phone.

ButtonLed is a highly customizable app and it lets you use your preferred blinking patterns. You can also set the time for blinking after getting the notification. Aside from that, it also supports status bar notifications. You can also use the phone’s proximity sensor in order to avoid the backlight from blinking, meaning that the light will not blink if the phone is in your pocket.

ButtonLed also supports avoiding certain predefined notifications. This means that you can avoid notifications of irrelevant text messages by defining a particular word or phrase to avoid in text messages.

For HDPI devices, you can use this apk file and for MDPI devices, you need to use this apk file. If you are running Jelly Bean, then you need to use this apk file. After installing the app, you need allow ButtonLed in accessibility. There is a preselected backlight file which will work with most Android devices and if you see the light blinking after clicking on “test light”, then everything is fine. However, if the light doesn’t blink, you will need to choose another backlight file within the app.
