Galaxy Tab S to come with fingerprint scanner and AMOLED Display

Samsung will launch a new tablet series in the near future with the name Galaxy Tab S according to reports. The Galaxy Tab S is different from the existing Samsung Tab portfolio in that it will be a high end tablet with beefed up specs, Samsung is launching the tablet to complement the Galaxy S series of smartphones at the higher end of the spectrum. According to SamMobile, the tablet will carry AMOLED display and the same fingerprint scanner tech found on the recently launched Galaxy S5 smartphone.

Samsung will beat its rivals with the first fingerprint scanner in a tablet, similar to the Galaxy S5 the Galaxy Tab S will have the fingerprint scanner embedded with the home button. Samsung also has a unique feature for its new tablet that is not there in the Galaxy S5, the fingerprint scanner supports multi-user login, you can go directly to your home screen after swiping with your finger. Android support the multi-user feature and Samsung has improvised it to support direct login with fingerprint scanning.

According to the report Samsung will include AMOLED Display at WQVGA (2560* 1600 pixels) resolution.

Galaxy Tab S will come in two sizes, 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch screen sizes. It will be powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5 SoC with ARM’s big.LITTLE technology, 3GB of RAM. Other specifications that are leaked include an 8-MP camera sensor with 1080p video recording, it will also carry a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy Tab S will be available as Wi-Fi and LTE variants along with Bluetooth, DLNA, and other usual connectivity options.

It will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. The pricing and availability of the Galaxy Tab S is no yet clear, we will let you know if we know any other details.
