Micromax Canvas 4 launched for Rs. 17,999

Micromax has launched its much anticipated Canvas 4, the next smartphone in its successful Canvas series. The phone is teased on Facebook and on YouTube for quite sometime before the launch and Micromax even opened pre-bookings for this phone with out announcing specifications and price. Today Micromax finally unveiled this phone at an event in new Delhi, it is a dual SIM dual standby phone priced at Rs. 17,999.

If you look at the specifications it has similar specs to the Canvas HD, but this phone comes with some unique features to make the deal better. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad core processor with 1GB of RAM. It comes with a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels “Tru-HD” IPS screen, the screen has a Corning gorilla glass protection.

Micromax Canvas 4 Specifications

On the camera front it comes with a 13MP camera at the rear with five lens elements tucked in according to Micromax. It supports vertical panoramas, multiple face detection, comes with image stabilization and performs well in the low light conditions also. On the front it is equipped with a 5MP camera for ego boosting selfies.

It runs on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and this time Micromax said they will offer over-the-air (OTA) updates on this phone. Earlier Micromax users had to go to a service center to update their phones.

The much touted feature of this phone is the unique unlock feature, this phone comes with a “blow to unlock”, you kiss your phone to unlock, that my sound weird but it is the latest innovation from Micromax (pun intended). Other features in this phone include gesture controls during calls, flipping your phone silences it, face up the phone to switch on the loudspeaker. Video pinning feature allows you to pin the videos to the home screen. While watching videos if you look away the video gets paused. Yeah some of these features remind Samsung’s TouchWiz features.
