Motorola to push phones cheaper than Moto G, $50 phone?

When Motorola released the Moto G last year everyone was surprised with its price tag. Its price tag of $179 for an 8GB model is just great and puts many phones to shame. Motorola has really pushed the price of Moto G, but Motorola is not stopping there, it is pushing further to release phones that are cheaper than Moto G.

Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside speaking with Trusted Reviews made the $50 phone comment. He said “Why can’t these devices be $50?”. “There’s no reason that can’t happen so we’re going to push that.”

At the moment there are no other details regarding these cheaper phones except that it is a possibility. We are thinking Motorola may already be working on these kind of devices. Several phone manufacturers are aiming for the low-cost devices particularly in-view of emerging markets like India and China. Nokia has its own Asha line of devices which are doing great in India. Motorola might also launch a new series of smartphones to cater these kind of markets.

Motorola Moto G is the much anticipated phone in India, as it offers good specifications at a reasonable price point. Motorola is expected to reveal the details of Moto G availability on Feb 5th in India.
