Nexus 7 16GB goes on sale in India from today

Nexus 7 tablet launched earlier this year in US and other countries is now in India. From today you can buy the 16GB version of the tablet from the retail stores. Nexus 7 received rave reviews when it launched in June this year, it has good build quality and runs on stock Jelly Bean out of the box. If you are waiting for this tablet, good news is that you can buy it from today and the bad news is that the pricing is steep at Rs. 19999 in India.

Nexus 7 16GB model is available in US for $199, originally it was priced at $249 and the 8GB model is priced at $199. Google recently phased out the 8GB model and cut the price tag of 16GB model to $199. At the same time Google launched a 32GB model with 3G connectivity. However in India Asus has priced the 16GB model at Rs.19999 (~$370), which is steep compared to the US pricing and is also higher when you compare the pricing of this tablet in other Asian countries. The pricing of this tablet is a dampener for many fans who are waiting for this tablet to get their hands on. Personally I feel this tablet is not worth INR 20K and it should be 3-4K less than the current pricing.

Nexus 7 is also available as a 32GB version with 3G connectivity elsewhere, but there is no word on whether that model will also be available in India.

If you are planning to buy this tablet be aware that this tablet is Wi-Fi only, there is no 3G connectivity, but offers good build quality and runs stock Jelly Bean. Specifications of the tablet include 7-inch IPS display panel with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, Quad-Core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset and 1GB RAM.
