Facebook released the updated Facebook Messenger app to more Android users and iOS users. Facebook has released the redesigned app two weeks back to a limited beta users on Android and it is now broadly available. The redesign is to make the app faster, clean and more appealing to the users. The new design is inline with the iOS 7 design released with the iPhone 5S.
The updated app sports a complete new look and introduces some new functionality. Facebook notes on its blog post that the updated app is faster and acts as a more reliable mobile-to-mobile messaging application.
The updated look includes a Messenger icon over the picture of your contact, the icon tells that they are also using the Messenger app and your message is delivered immediately to them. The app now allows you to text your contacts who are not your Facebook friends, the only condition is that you know their contact number. You will be asked to confirm your phone number for this feature.
Updated Facebook Messenger is now available from Google Play Store and Apple’s app store.
