Samsung Galaxy Devices to support 9 Indian languages

Samsung announced that its Galaxy line of Android devices now support 9 Indian languages. Samsung partnered with Reverie Technologies to add support for Indian languages on its smartphones and tablets, the move is aimed at taking Samsung products more close to the non-English speakers in the country.

The list of languages that will be available on Samsung phones include Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil and, Telugu.

Vineet Taneja, country head, Samsung Mobile and IT, Samsung India, said, “Availability of content combined with easy access is the key driver for usage of any language. We clearly sense a need and a demand amongst users to communicate in local language using their mobile devices. That is the reason, as an industry leader, we are taking the lead by offering users the ease of accessing regional language content in their preferred language.”

Galaxy S4, Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Tab 3 series devices will now support nine languages, support for other devices in Galaxy range will be added in two months time. The lower end phone Galaxy Star will start supporting the languages from this month onwards.

Users can access the regional apps from Samsung Apps Store, Samsung will work with content providers and app developers to get more app in regional languages with regional content. Samsung will add support for other languages soon. Some of the app available on the store include The Tines of India, Facebook, Gmail, BSE and Bharatmatrimony.
