Samsung to host its own developer conference in October

Samsung will host its first developer conference this year in October. Samsung has setup a teaser website for the devcon, not much details are available at the moment except that the developer conference will take place in San Francisco starting October 27th, it will run for 3 days.

The developer conference is viewed as Samsung distancing away from Google and the news made Internet to buzz that Samsung might be forking the Android OS like Amazon did to move away from Google’s influence. Samsung is the largest vendor of smartphones running Android and its Galaxy brand is highly recognized brand.

The conference is not exclusive to Android, it is a cross-platform event. Samsung is involved with Windows Phone and Tizen apart from Android. It invested a lot in Tizen OS which has seen lot of struggles recently, and word is that it is almost dead, Samsung and Intel denied that later. Tizen OS based phones might make an appearance at this event, if you remember that Samsung is supposed to reveal the phone in August but it was pushed to October due to appstore issues.

Samsung’s tag line for the event is “Engage with industry leaders, Collaborate with fellow developers, Learn about new Samsung tools and SDKs, Create what’s next”. If you are a developer and interested in attending the conference you can add your email to get notification when the site opens for registrations.
