Setup Google Authorship to show your photo and byline in search

Google Authorship feature is active from quite some time, it allows article authors to claim their content in Google Search. When you do so, Google will display your profile photo and Byline in Google Search results from your site or blog.

Several publishers and bloggers already added this feature including me, now Google says that they improved this feature and establishing Authorship in Google search is easy. All you have to do is add your site link in Google+ profile page and add a snippet of code to your blog or site template. This is what you have to do to link your website with Google+ page.

1) Visit your Google+ page, open its profile, and click ‘Edit profile’
2) On the About tab, save your website URL, then click the new button, ‘Link website’
3) Follow the instructions for adding a short line of code to your website’s homepage, then click ‘Test website’

It will take atleast 2 days to link your website to your Google+ page. Once it is active you will see check icon instead of Link Website button.

You can also link your personal Google+ page to your website, for that go to your Google+ page and edit profile. On the about tab add yourself as contributor to your blog and your website in links. Once done add a snippet of code to your  blog template. This way you will make sure your photo and Byline appear along with your content in Google Search results.
