Sony to update Xperia devices to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Google has released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and all the Nexus devices are getting the update right away. Now it is upto the OEMs to issue updates to their devices running older version of Android. Sony has announced today that they will update some of their Xperia lineup to Android 4.3.

The list of devices getting Android 4.3 from Sony include Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra. All these devices will get the update soon, although Sony has not provided any roadmap it might take a couple of months before you can get your hands on the latest Android OS version.

Sony is also planning to issue updates to some of its other Xperia devices that are on Android 4.1, instead of pushing Android 4.2 Sony will push Android 4.3 directly. That is a good news for Xperia users who are on Android 4.1, but it also means you will have to wait longer to get 4.3.

Sony also noted in the blog post that Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are receiving the Android 4.2 update now. Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will get the Android 4.2 update from early August.
