Sony to update Xperia devices with Android 4.3 and 4.4 KitKat

Google has released Android 4.4 KitKat few days back, now Android users are waiting for information from their OEMs on when they will get the latest Android update. Sony has posted an update on its blog that talks about the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out to Xperia smartphnes and tablets.

According to Sony most of the Xperia devices released recently will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The list of devices that will get this update includes Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra. The update will roll out from the next month onwards and as usual the updates will roll out in phases and will depend on carrier or region.

Sony has earlier noted that some of the devices running Android 4.1 will be jumped directly to Android 4.3 instead of upgrading to Android 4.2. The list includes Xperia T, Xperita Tx and Xperia V. These devices will also receive the update starting from next month.

When it comes to latest Android 4.4 KitKat updates Sony says the first list of devices that will get the update include Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. Sony might also update other devices like Xperia ZR, ZL and SP to Android 4.4 KitKat but Sony didn’t announce at this point of time. Also it is not clear when the Android 4.4 update will reach these devices.

If you own an Xperia device look for the updates from next month onwards.
