The app uses artificial intelligence to select best three shots and delete the rest. The app uses data from the entire set to remove noise, brighten faces and other minor adjustments. It can also detect if there is a motion in the pictures taken, like when your kids are playing then it can take a live image with the action included. All this occurs in a second according to Microsoft and the resultant are better, so when you take pictures with Pix app you don’t have to worry about whether your got the best picture or not. An algorithm in the backend is trained to detect whether eyes are open or closed, this open-eye detector builds on the facial recognition technology available from sometime back.

You don’t have to select a long list of settings or tools to use the app, according to Microsoft it has simple interface and all the action happens in the backend and user has to use a minimalist set of tools. Pix starts capturing frames the moment the viewfinder is loaded and it tweaks settings for exposure and focus. If it detects faces then it automatically optimizes the entire process around them.

Microsoft Pix works with iPhone 5s and up, Android users have to wait for little longer as the app is getting readied for them.
