Google launches Android Device Manager App for locating your phone with another device

Google launched the Android Device Manager companion app for Android on Google Play Store. It works like the web version to locate your lost Android phone or tablet. Google first released the Android Device Manager web version in August and promised an app for the same later, after much delay the app is now available on Google Play Store for download.

The app like the web version allows you to track your Android phone or tablet, and then ring the phone, erase the contents or adding a remote lock for protecting the contents on the phone. This is one of the most useful feature for Android device users, as device manufacturers except a few like Samsung and Sony doesn’t have this kind of mechanism to track their stolen devices.

Features:

  • Locate Android devices associated with your Google account
  • Reset your device’s screen lock PIN
  • Erase all data on the phone

Google says the app is particularly useful if you out and can not use your PC to locate the phone. The app currently supports only few features, but this is the first release and hopefully we will see more features added to this in later updates.
