Yahoo announced a smarter inbox and application platform strategy in Dec 2008. Recently they included some more applications and made available these applications to all US users. Last month they announced some updates to the inbox in the name of social and interactive features. One of the feature which looks like a twitter updates caught my eye today.
In the new Yahoo Mail inbox you will see text box with the question “What are you doing right now�, you can enter a message here. That is the same message that goes as a status message in your Yahoo profile. They are integrating this feature in more yahoo sites. When you send an email to your friends, you can see their status updates in the mail sent screen.
These are interesting features which will make Yahoo a sort of social network. if all of your friends are in Yahoo, these features will make easy to stay in touch with them and see what they are up to from with in your yahoo mail inbox.
Yahoo has also introduced a feature recently that helps you to filter your inbox messages from your selected contacts or connections as they call it. This feature is useful if you get lot messages to your inbox you can read the important stuff from your contacts first. The new filtering feature is accessible from the bar below reply, forward buttons, it reads view from: All, Contacts, Connections.
These features are rolled out slowly to all users, I got these features today, if you haven’t seen these yet wait for few days.
