Firefox 3.1 to get private browsing mode

FirefoxFirefox 3.1 will get a private browsing mode by the end of the year, in the wake of Google Chrome’s InCognito mode and IE8’s InPrivate mode it makes sense for Firefox to add private browsing.

Private browsing mode deletes all user activity once the user closes private mode and returns to normal mode. The information like bookmarks which users save explicitly will be saved to the disk and all other data will be removed leaving no traces of what you browse.

The private browsing mode is dubbed infamously as ‘Porn mode’ by lot of people, Mozilla wiki states there are lot of use cases for the private browsing mode “For instance, users may wish to begin a private browsing session to research a medical condition, or plan a surprise vacation or birthday party for a loved one. Use cases will range from users cheating on their spouse, to users buying engagement rings.”

You can find more about “Private Browsing” in Firefox from the Mozilla Wiki. (Via Mozilla Links)
