Twitter updated their mobile apps for iPhone and Android, these updates bring some new features. The updates to iPhone are more obvious and Android users are not that lucky they didn’t get all updates that are added to iPhone.
Swipe feature is back on both the mobile apps iPhone and Android. Swiping on any tweet brings the menu on top of the tweet which enables users to reply, retweet, favorite, view profiles with out leaving their own timelines.
Find Friends feature in both mobile apps will carry a notification when you select Find friends. The notification “We will securely upload your contacts to help you find friends and suggest users to follow on twitter.â€, this is added after the recent uproar over Path sending contact list back to their servers without users consent.
Twitter for iPhone got some other features. Copy and paste feature will allow you to copy tweets and paste them, Just tap and hold to use this feature. With the share feature, now if a tweet has a link you can copy, email or choose to read it later. Read it later setting has to be enabled under Settings > Advanced. Pressing and holding the links will also provide these options with the ability to open that link in Safari.
Another feature on twitter for iPhone is that you can mark all direct messages as read, useful if you get lot of direct messages.
