Tether.com Launches Web Based Tethering for iPhone

Tether launched an App in last November which got approved by Apple and pulled quickly later allowed users to tether iPhone for their laptops. The app iTether allowed users to use USB tethering using its software bypassing the cost involved in setting up personal hotspot.

Tether.com provides tethering apps or mobile operating systems Android, Blackberry and iOS. As iOS app is pulled from the Apple appstore Tether.com came up with a web based tool using HTML5 technology. It allows users to tether their iPhones with out jailbreaking them before tethering.

The new approach to iPhone relies on creating an Ad hoc network that is shared between phone and PC and visiting a web page on the iPhone. Log in to your account and the tether.com software does the magic of tethering using HTML5 magic.

Checkout the video showing the app in action:

iTether is not free, it costs $30 per year to use the service, but for the first year it is $15. That’s a lot less than what carriers like AT&T are charging.
