Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 brings 75% faster charging and Voice activation in Snapdragon processors

Qualcomm today shared some details of new features that will be built into their new Snapdragon 800 processors. Quick Charge 2.0 makes your future smartphones and tablets to charge 75% faster than the current charging method. Quick Charge 2.0 is not specific for Qualcomm processor running devices, but it can be standalone solution and will be available for wide range of devices by next year.

Qualcomm says last year 70 devices launched with Quick Charge 1.0, which offered 40% faster charging. Quick Charge 2.0 now offers 75% faster charging, it will be in-built in devices using Snapdragon 800 processors. It claims that tablets usually takes 7 hours to charge and Quick Charge 2.0 can charge them under 3 hours.

Qualcomm is already in talks with AC/DC suppliers and will soon the solution can be found in standard micro-USB AC/DC chargers as well. Quick Charge 1.0 is primarily designed for smartphones and tablets with 10 watts of power while Quick Charge 2.0 will able to charge large devices like slim notebooks with 60 watts of power.

The availability of devices with Quick Charge 2.0 solution is by early 2014, while devices using Snapdragon 800 processor will have a built-in system.

Voice Activation

Voice activation is specific to the Snapdragon 800 processor running devices, it allows to wakeup your smartphone tablet with a single voice command. This is a always on and low power consuming feature that will listen to the voice command set before. This works even if the phone is in standby mode or in Airplane mode.
